Old fart, female variety. I've had cats since I was six except for a couple of several-year stretches when I was catless, but busy having babies and raising them. I started having cats again when a stray Cleo wandered into our yard, and we kept him. I think children should be trained by a cat when they're young and impressionable, and my oldest daughter is another cat-fanatic and we share our personal Cat News almost every day.

    Thank you for pointing that out, (shelter cats are a “bargain”), though many people won’t take their cat to a vet, unfortunately. I lost all respect for a woman I knew slightly when she told me that “god” was her cat’s vet. “If she lives, she lives…”. What about her suffering without treatment?
