   My father met my mother in China, where her father was establishing CNAC, and my father, with his roommate from college, was bicycling across China. They courted and married, and seeing that war was inevitable, he signed up in ‘40 and went through OCS. He was sent to Australia and thence to New Guinea, where he got malaria and was sent home to meet the daughter he’d never seen, in ’44.
