My dad made it to 94. He was the type that I was sure would make it to 100. But he had a couple of serious issues and was in a lot of pain so he decided it was time to go so he stopped fighting it.
My dad was in a wonderful Assisted Living facility as well because he didn’t need Medicaid to pay for it. My sister’s MIL unfortunately does need Medicaid to pay for it and her facility is not nearly as good.
And then you have Arizona’s “voucher” system. Under this system, parents are being given $7,500 “vouchers” for things that are only by a big stretch of one’s imagination educational. Parents have been known to use them for ski trips, pianos, bounce houses, karate lessons and the list goes on. Not too surprisingly, the budget for these “vouchers” has been busted.
