And you have to say “Ph’nglui mgwl’nafph Cthulhu R’lyeh wgah’nagl fhtagn”, and pronounce it correctly. Don’t worry, I won’t put any Cthulhu vibes in the healing meditations I’m sending.

I’m seriously considering using it for a ringtone.

Two techies, four (I think) working computers, a working scanner and a huge cat for good luck, and we still can’t get the blasted laser printer to work with a brand-new toner cartrid$e. I just have one page to do. Off to the copy store (with WFHB on the car radio), fortunately I just found there actually is one close by.

Medicine Buddha mantras coming to you! There’s something going around. Be sure to take lots of vitamin C. My grandma said sleep is the best doctor.

So did I, in computer class in college. We were learning Fortran, writing simple programs, typing each line on a punch card and loading them into the giant CDC6600 CPU. Then push the buttons and hope it wouldn’t give you an EXCHANGE PACKAGE. Printing out tons of greenbar with complete garbage on it for hours.

I went back there in the early 80s to work for the IU Student Association’s Faculty-Course Evaluation Project. My mom worked for that as well and we’d sit there listening to funny tapes on our walkmans. That was just data entry. Students filled out booklets rating professors and classes, e.g., “did they make the subject interesting”, “did they speak English clearly” (a big problem, especially in the math dept), “would you take another class with this teacher,” “did they listen & answer your questions”, etc., and each item was entered as a number. There was a section to write your own comments, but those were typed in later and published in the finished booklet at the end of the year. Some of the comments, positive and negative, were pure gold and I’ll never forget them. “I cannot believe I paid $300 for an a$$@#*1” ended up as one of Mom’s and my catch phrases.

I could have sworn I’d seen IBM-keypunch style cards sold specifically for crafting. If they don’t exist, somebody should make them.

I’m familiar with Robert W. Service from my dad’s library, but this is the first time I have seen or heard of that one!

Brother used to make one of the most durable typewriters. I didn’t realize they made printers. I need to check this out, thank you. ❤️
