Both of these trucks are too small for scale. How can the drivers sit comfortably inside of them? The hot dog truck should be at least 9 feet tall and 20 feet long, and the ice cream cone truck should be at least 10½ feet tall and 23 feet long (Jon is 6 feet tall). Also, where are the doors?

on Calvin and Hobbes
Calvin would surely have more appreciation for math if he were assigned problems involving dinosaurs; for instance:
Calvin’s Dad: Calvin, the sauropod dinosaur Omeisaurus , of mid-Jurassic China, was 59 feet in overall length. The combined length of its head, torso, and tail was 32 feet. How long was its neck?
Calvin: 27 feet.
Calvin’s Dad: Correct!

I wonder if this was one of Roger’s other purchases (“random impulse purchases”, as Andy called them) when he went to go buy Halloween candy at Costclub.
Roger (after buying the candy) : Let’s see…what’s this?
(He notices a sign that reads, ‘LIFE-SIZED INFLATABLE AQUATIC CREATURES; PAST AND PRESENT’, and examines the choices in the aisle)
Roger: I’ll bet Jason would like one of these. Let’s see… Anomalocaris … Pterygotus … Dunkleosteus … Prionosuchus … Nothosaurus … Placodus … Tanystropheus … Shonisaurus … Rutiodon … Leedsichthys … Geosaurus … Sarcosuchus … Stomatosuchus … Xiphactinus … Elasmosaurus … Tylosaurus … Archelon … Parapuzosia … Basilosaurus … Livyatan … Otodus megalodon … Odobenocetops …Steller’s sea cow…great white shark…hammerhead shark…thresher shark…goblin shark…megamouth shark…basking shark…whale shark…smalltooth sawfish…beluga sturgeon…beluga whale…sperm whale…Baird’s beaked whale…orca…bottlenose dolphin…bowhead whale…humpback whale…gray whale…leopard seal…walrus…emperor penguin…king penguin…saltwater crocodile…leatherback sea turtle…marine iguana…green anaconda…hmmmm, this is going to be a tough decision. I think I’ll get him the… Liopleurodon .
Jason (after Roger has returned with the inflatable Liopleurodon ) : Awesome! Thanks, Dad!
Roger: Anytime, son.

Right you are; and, unfortunately, many species of them are declining due to overfishing for their dorsal fins to be made into soup.

What’s that last word in Garfield’s thought bubble in the last panel? A “preeminence”?
Happy birthday, Liz!
