Actually, many of the changes Trump has proposed, such as (for instance) expelling eleven million people, will be economically catastrophic in a way which will be inescapable. But the dumber people are likely to find someone else to follow, and someone else to blame. The ‘G’ is going to fall out of MAGA. It’s not going to be nice. But — just do the arithmetic, if you can remember how.

“The real indicators of the Trump / MAGA era will be the outcomes of the next few generations. I suspect they will be less healthy, with higher mortality, have more social neuroses, and the level of education will be very patchy. ….” This is what we have now regardless of the ostensible political leadership. We elected one set of incompetents and sociopaths to deal with another.

If some people can have guns, then everyone can have guns, including liberals, radicals, anarchists, monarchists, and my uncle’s monkey. It would solve a lot of problems, eventually.

“Good for her!” A curious thing about capitalism is that a lot of people want to be taken for a ride. It’s a way of participating in the system. In the case of music, it’s the lawyers, accountants, advertisers, corporate moguls, and so forth who get rich, and I guess the victims get to enjoy their wealth vicariously You asked for it, you got it! Don’t forget to vote for the fattest pig on election day — or wherever and whenever you worship the wealth.

The kneejerk use of “Weird” is degrading the brand from the halcyon days of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson. Mr. Walz is actually pretty weird, himself, but he’s already worked it too much. It’s liable to fall off.

Sorry, I’m not a Trump fan, and I don’t listen to his speeches. I’m just pointing out your (plural) passive authoritarianism, as you wait around to be told what to do and what to think by your favorite elites, whoever they may be. As for rampant conformity, it was considered a serious social issue in the 1950s. You all should read up on it, and you’ll recognize the landscape. It’s certainly depressing to see it coming back in fashion, led by a cop.

No, “weird” is great. “When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro,” as Dr Hunter S. Thompson said. Now you conformists can go back to orthodoxy and conformity and “I’M SPEAKING. OBEY.”

“Weird” = unorthodox; antonym: orthodox, conformist. Goes along with the Democratic Party’s new slogan, “I’M SPEAKING. OBEY” and their new affection for censorship. Sorry, poor schmucks: you chose it, you’re stuck with it.

From Ike to King to Malcolm X, everyone loves you when you’re dead.

And how will you do that? There is no “lesser evil” for you to vote against.
