   It can be both cruel and beautiful but also kind. I’ve witnessed animals and birds feeding one another and mourning the passing of one of their own. We once observed a herd of deer quieting lined up and passing slowly by one who had died. And we’ve seen tiny raccoons climbing a tree to feed their tiny little sister. Amazing things!

   Well well well. Two Brad is a big loser jokes in two days. TJ is taking his backhanded humor a bit too far. It’s one thing to kid your buddy but putting it on a tee shirt. He must be really really deeply envious of Brad for his success and for his relationship.

   This so called “gift” is a non-gift. Brad needs to say Gee thanks! Now I know what you really think of me. And then promptly toss it into the Donation bin. Life is too short to wear an insulting tee shirt.

   You are probably right on all counts. But it really doesn’t take a lot of preparation and planning to donate blood was my point. Yes, if they want to make a party out of it but not really. And nothing is stopping Luann from just making a donation herself. She won’t, of course. It was just another brilliant idea. Since they aren’t donating blood as a family will Luann have to make some new “gifts” or will she trade an hour of labor for something else? Or just give it freely? If that’s all she can afford to do that’s great but it’s should be a gift with no strings attached.

   It’s not forgotten. We just switched the scene to Brad and TJ. I admit it was an abrupt pivot, especially just as things were getting interesting with Bernice questioning of Luann about Phil. You know there was no need to do an elaborate “blood drive” with activities etc. Why don’t Luann, her parents, maybe Brad and Toni and TJ, if they want, just go down and donate???? And if Bernice can’t or isn’t comfortable donating blood then leave her alone!
