Yesterday’s strip was correct and this one is wrong. Mosquitoes don’t kill anyone – they just propagate the little bastard that does. They vector the single celled organism Plasmodium falciparum (in South America, Plasmodium vivax) into humans via their anti-coagulant saliva when they bite you. P. falciparum and vivax kill you by feeding on the globular protein subunits of the haemoglobin in your blood. Saying the mosquito kills people is like saying that someone who died of a heroin overdose stabbed himself to death with the syringe.
