   I think it is a cartoonist inside joke to never really say where their strips are set. Springfield in the Simpsons is close to a beach, mountains, a forest, farmlands and about anything else!

   I know she is only pretend but I sure wish someone in the cartoon town would help Agnes and her Gramma. Kids like Agnes is why I was a Big Brother 3 times and try to get gifts for kids at Xmas time. Growing up poor and on the wrong side of the tracks myself, several times it was the kindness of those around that stood between being full and going to bed hungry another night. Have we ever found out what happened to Agnes’ parents?
