Doesn’t matter what the American style is, if the American style makes no sense. If the period isn’t part of what’s been quoted, it should go outside of the quotation marks, just like question and exclamation marks. The only reason it isn’t is because of practices that developed alongside the handsetting of movable type. It’s an ancient and nonsensical rule that should be abandoned.

Sigh… ANOTHER tech joke. If Guy Gilchrist was still writing this, Sluggo would be wearing undyed animal skins like he used to.

Wow, ANOTHER tech joke? Look at miss modern here with her mirror. Hey, Nancy, you too good to look at yourself in a still pond? It was good enough for Narcissus and Guy Gillcrust, I’ll tell you what.

I can’t believe they’re doing another tech joke. Bushmiller would just have them heisting raw carbon, not these fancy modren “jewels“.

Yeah, I was going to say, in today’s Bushmiller comic, she is literally just eating a plate of frosting.

Ugh, another tech joke. Why isn’t Nancy grinding pigments to make her own colored pastes to paint on the wall with, instead of these newfangled crayons?

Ugh, another tech joke. Why can’t Nancy just live in a cave, like she did when Gichrist wrote it?

Calling this a tech joke is like reading a strip where Nancy walks into the room and calling it a foot joke. Just because technology is present doesn’t make it a tech joke. If Bushmiller did a gag where Nancy was listening to the radio, was that a tech joke?

Can’t be, he said he was leaving yesterday. He… He wouldn’t just say that, would he?
