I was in a dorm so long ago. At that time at Berkeley, our complex had 4 8 story buildings, two for men, two for women. Opposite sex not even allowed on the floors above the lobby. We did eat together. And we had a house mother. Shared bathrooms on each floor, Laundry or kitchen.
Microwaves didn’t exist, no mini fridges, no TVs except one in the ground floor lounge. No computers, no cell phones.
Still managed to have fun, some drama and even get an education.
