    from the oputside it looks liek a natrual formation but inside there’s clearly worked stone. Who was in the area before Latins and Etruscans to have risen, built then fallen so far that it is all but gone?

    he’s a merger of the two. St. Nick was as you said bishop of Myre in what we now call turkey. A patron of children, sialors and ‘women of loose morals’ . A great deal of father xmas/santa imagry comes from a mix of various yule deities. The celebrations certainly include Saturn et al though that’s more a ‘father time’ image and drifted towards new years while nordic images Krampus/Bellsnickel/etc merged with elements of Odin.

    In Jr high I had the lead in "You’re a good man charlie brown. we used taped music and the finale is the song ‘happiness is’ with the whole cast singing what makes them happy but about half of it is CB. and half way through the performance, the tape broke and i went from accompanied to acapella in a terrible heart beat.

    back to the clock tower story after hat rip off minute mystery (rip off because we had no chance to resolve it) and as i said before, 1) i bet they’ve got something timed for the clock for new years eve, and 2) when we first heard the name Totten I pointed out it’s link to certain german groups such as the Totenkopf.
