The strip was drawn and written by men for over 70 years. There’s no need to suddenly be threatened by women producing a comic that mostly stars a girl and her aunt for a few years.
I didn’t get to Nancy Fest but I did visit the Nancy exhibit at the Billy Ireland Cartoon Museum where the fest was held. The exhibit is in two galleries. One is dedicated to Bushmiller and traces his work on the strip. He started when he was 19! It includes many of his Nancy and Fritz’s Ritz strips and a few Phil Fumble strips as well. The second gallery mainly shows Ernie’s influence on other cartoonists and has sample strips from all of his Nancy successors.
Are you sure about that? Ernie died in 1982, his wife Abby died in 1987, and they had no children.
