“I wasn’t planning to write to anyone” -Mr. Humphreys when told that his drink of choice (a small port with lemon rather than the “scrumby” the other men were drinking) wouldn’t “put lead in his pencil” by Mr. Moulterd in the hilarious show Grace and Favour (which was called Are You Being Served Again in the USA, and was the sequel show to Are You Being Served)
Our subdivision is 1 street in the shape of a large “C” with houses on both sides, the school bus drops kids at both ends of the street, where it meets the main road. The parents sit in their cars waiting for their kids at the bus stops as I guess walking past 2 to 10 houses is too far for their precious little flowers lol
Growing up depending on where we were living I’d walk 2 or 3 blocks from the bus stop or about 10 blocks from the school to our apartment. Then we’d play outside any time the sun was up and even when it wasn’t as we got older. These days I very rarely see any of the neighborhood kids outside, I assume they’re inside staring at 1 screen or another
Gee thanks honeybunch! Nice way to build up your husband sheesh she pretty much just told him she hasn’t thought he was attractive since their honeymoon!
Your back surgery or your Doxie’s? Limo and I have both had spinal surgery at our L4-L5 vertebra for herniated disks. But we were both much younger! I was just 22 when I had my diskectomy, well before Limo was born (I’m 44 now). His surgery (pretty much the canine equivalent of a diskectomy) was about 7yrs ago after he was suddenly almost completely paralyzed in his back end (never have figured out what exactly caused his herniated disk tho certainly they’re just prone to the issue with their long backs!) the doc doing his surgery was 1 of the leading veterinarian neurosurgeons in the southwestern USA and he advised that I knew my dog better than he, Limo needed to be kept still for some weeks after surgery, for some dogs that means a kennel but some would hurt themselves worse fighting against being confined in one. I knew Limo was the latter so he spent those weeks chilling on a mattress on the floor and on beds throughout my house next to me as I did stuff. He healed very well, within a few short months you couldn’t guess he’d ever been paralyzed! He’s 13 now and still doing great! Whether you or your pup I’m sorry to hear it, back issues and spinal surgery are no fun!
Looks just like my naughty little dachshund Limo who despite weighing less than 20lbs manages to somehow take up the majority of my king size bed so I end up trying to cling to the last inches along the edge or on the floor lol
I’ve had to quit reading the comics (& trying to comment) at 3am (mountain time) because I keep getting the annoying page saying “we’re sorry, the website is experiencing heavy user traffic right now” apparently everyone is here commenting at that time and it overloads the site (which seems odd, surely there aren’t that many people using gocomics at any given time? But I’m no programmer or computer expert so idk how many is too many)
According to the Peanuts wiki Schulz confirmed in interviews that this is in fact Woodstock. He didn’t have a name until the June 22, 1970 strip when he was named after the historic festival but that he was 1 of the baby birds who hatched on Snoopy. He said he has trouble flying because he was abandoned by his mother and Snoopy taught him (or attempted to) fly. Schulz never confirmed in any interviews what kind of a bird he is tho
