   I enjoyed the snow forts in WI too, when I was a kid. I have fond memories of building a saucer run one New Years Eve and flying down the hill just after midnight New Years Day.

   I used to volunteer on the Oregon Humane Society’s Behavior Help Line, where you could call in for advice. Our number one topic was litter box issues. Of course the automatic litter box works for some, but if it doesn’t, quit early. Issues we heard repeatedly were that the cat was startled because it started doing its thing while the cat was still in it (terrifying!), so then the cat wouldn’t go in it; other cats would be fascinated by it and make it operate many times until it died. Some cats won’t go in the fully enclosed style of box. Hopefully the technology has improved over the years.

   I think one of my earliest printer wizard acts was when I was a new hire at the high tech company. I was a hardware design engineer. My admin complained that her computer was rebooting itself every 10-15 minutes. That’s annoying! I figured out it was caused by her printer rotating its drum to keep itself warm. Both computer and printer were plugged into the same power strip, and the printer cycling drew down the power enough to reboot the computer. Many had already focused on her computer and couldn’t find the problem.

   I do the same. Here, my library card gets me 3 bucks worth of printing free per week. Black and white is 10 cents a page and color is 50 cents. They have a very good wireless printing app too, so I can send the job to the printer from home, and print it on site at the library at my convenience.

    Yeah, we gardeners are all itching to plant, but it’s too early, even for sunflowers or bird seed.
