No one is trying to ban books for adults. Some books, however, are not appropriate for younger children, and thus should not be in elementary school libraries. If parents want their children to have them, Amazon will oblige.
Life Magazine did that 30 years ago. Recently aborted, but still living 12 week fetuses responded to a probe touching the eye by flinching, a reflex. But at 16 weeks the hand pushed the probe away, a coordinated response.
Not rocket science, but definitely a self-aware response to pain.
At 20 weeks, ultrasounds show thumb sucking, which also requires body awareness.
I am not religious at all, but I do believe the baby deserves protection after rudimentary self awareness can be demonstrated, about 16 weeks. Cogito ergo sum
Self-defense still applies, but a serious threat to life should be required.
Of course not, it contains the means to amend it and Congress can make appropriate law within its limits. There are plenty of remedies other than judicial tyranny.
SCOTUS is not allowed to consider the outcome of adhering to the Constitution and the laws as written. They only interpret the laws to reflect the will of the Congress that passed them. If you don’t like the outcomes, address them in Congress. If you think SCOTUS should be guided by their personal opinion of what is wise, you need remedial civics.
The vaccines do not prevent you from being infected, nor do they prevent you from passing it on to others. What they do is to help you not die. Particularly if you are elderly or immune compromised.
Note that I didn’t say “states”, I said “urban areas.” Rural parts of CA and NY have more in common with Wyoming than their cities. But in a popular vote contest, the votes of people in rural areas and small towns hove no voice. The Electoral College gives them that voice. I really don’t want people who live in apartments telling me how to raise my chickens or how I can fish and hunt.
Absent the Electoral College, the President would be chosen by a half dozen large urban areas. The rest of the country would have no say in who was elected.
No, the job of the press is to tell the truth, regardless of who it helps or hurts. The moment it takes sides, for any reason, it no longer serves its purpose
