I worked at a shelter and saw all types of excuses. One of the worst was turning the dog in because its color did not go well with the new carpet!

    Perhaps a recline?

My current dog will take a slipper or shoe when we are not home, move it to another room but not chew. I think she may get comfort from the smell.

Here it varies from park to park. The one nearest me has mostly good citizens who do pick up.

I think the pharmacist has the dog confused with a cat. Trying to give a pill to a cat leaves the human bloody and the pill on the floor. LOL

Our local shelters and rescues interview potential adopters. Sometimes there is not a good match and the adoption is refused. Dogs here are not euthanized for space. Sometimes the adopters try to get a pet even though their landlord prohibits pets or they plan to leave the dog chained up outside all the time “for protection”. Interviewing stops these and other possible bad situations for a pet. Interviews can also help people learn how to better react and live with their pet.
