   I have prostate problems so I never sleep through the night without having to get up and answer the call of nature. At least two of our 4 dogs figure as long as I’m up anyway they too can make a trip outside. Our oldest dog will either get dragged (not literally) outside or will pee on the floor after I’ve gone back to bed. I think he’s been taking my Flomax.

   So that’s the way it’s spelled. I’ll bet I have been pronouncing it wrong as well. Go figure.

   When my mother used all three of my names, I knew I was in serious trouble!

   Way back in the late 50’s, after we had moved to Florida, we would get lots of relatives visiting during the summer months. Aunt Ruby would put her kids on the kitchen counter and use a washcloth to bathe her two pre-six-year-olds. Since that time, we have always referred to that type of bath as a “Ruby Bath.” Yes, my mother hated having bare-bottomed kids sitting on her kitchen counter, but bless her heart, never said anything to Aunt Ruby about it. She would just take the opportunity to disinfect when company wasn’t watching.

   I once went back to my home(town) after an absence of 30+ years. They were right about not going home again. The changes were unbelievable. The area where we had lived had been “revitalized” and was unrecognizable.

   In the Bering Strait, there are two small islands known as Big Diomede and Little Diomede. They are 2.4 miles apart. Big Diomede is Russian while Little Diomede is American. Yes, you can see Russia from Alaska if you happen to be on Little Diomede.

   In my father’s effects was a small box of coins and currency he picked up along the way during WW2. The only English coin in the box is a half-crown with King George on it. He had several coins with the Swastika on them as well as a 50 Mark bill from the late 30s. Most of the rest were from France and the Netherlands.

   The folks that lived in our house before we bought it had a scratcher. All the doors leading to the outside world are/were deeply gouged with scratch marks. The one leading into the garage has scratch marks on both sides, so they must have put their dog in the garage a lot.
