   My “bank” is a CU also. Everything you say is true but I still don’t keep the vast majority of my money there. Checks?? What are those? I used 10 in the last year.

   Well, I stand corrected. Just looked at Fido, CD rates aren’t as high as they were just 2 days ago. Hmmmm. Money mkts, while not insured only came close to breaking the buck once that I know of and the firm behind it covered any losses. Still…..it depends on your level of comfort.

   That’s why I don’t keep much in the banks. Fidelity, and I’m sure others offer money mkts paying close to 5% and FDIC CD’s ranging from 1 month on out. Paying 5.25 to 5.40%
