IMO never drink a hazy or “juicy” IPA. Ugh. But that’s me. Also IMO, to just name two “classic” IPA’s, try Lagunitas for a nationally available but always good one, or Six Points Bengali Tiger for a fabulous local (Brooklyn) one. There are so many other good ones in the USA (many 1000s?), and most of them taste quite different once you’ve tried a few.
One difference to consider is the balance of the sweetish barley/other grains with the bitter hops. That balance, the types of grains and hops, other taste elements, all can differ a lot, so there is a huge variety, and likely a type or types you like. They also have different alcohol (ABV) levels (usually on the high side for beer) which can effect the taste and the experience. The cartoon is ridiculous.
I drove cross country twice not too long ago, eating most dinners in brew pubs near my motels (don’t drink and drive!) and had the greatest selection of local IPAs with food anyone could ever want. Never mind the inevitable occasional beer you don’t like: The local craft beer, including IPAs, throughout this country in the last few decades, is truly phenomenal!
