Depends. The “On the nth Day of Christmas, My True Love Gave to Me”, the ‘of’ means ‘after’. This use of ‘of’ is obscure now, but when the song was written it didn’t need explanation.

So it would be ‘on the first day after Christmas, my true love gave to me…’. Which makes January 6th (twelfth night) line up with the twelfth day after Christmas.

I bet that in Panel 2, the first two words in the fourth line were originally “The book”, but Delainey / Rasmussen decided that “Alex’s book” would be better. However, they didn’t move the full text further right to remain left-justified.

Yes. So did “Nothing” in “Much Ado About Nothing”.

Knowing the double meanings of some of these words, gives Benedick’s words here a different cast:

Benedick. I will live in thy heart, die in thy lap, and beburied in thy eyes; and moreover I will go withthee to thy uncle’s.

@HappyDog Just don’t take one on an airplane. TSA probably wouldn’t like you to have a metal shank on board.
