If Antonio really respects Kenny as a person, he will let him make the decision, and I don’t see him making the decision to leave his new home and go with his birth father. Kenny will probably decide to stay there and still write to him, and Antonio can visit for the holidays.
I would assume the pens are disposable (people throw them away when they are done) and if someone uses the last pen they have to put in a bunch of new pens (with gloves on).
I think it can be a multitude of reasons. Since she can afford to make her own garden she probably won’t need to save money on the thermostat. But she might need to save the money since she spends so much on the so-called “foods” that she forces upon her family. She might be also doing it like, as Stephen Gilberg said, for an environmentalist reason.
