Yes, but then I take a go-with-the-flow approach in reading Luann anyway. Also, didn’t we know a guest artist was coming? And the first strip this week made clear it’s Toni’s fantasy. I will agree it’s gone a bit longer than needed, but that’s a drawback of the week-at-a-time format.

Agree, no one would expect a child to be like this in reality. But a comic strip character’s fantasy? Sure.

As I’ve learned from other posters, Greg was an early mentor to Jay, the guest artist, and they have remained close. G&K did not bring him in as an audition or to have him emulate the usual drawing style. He would draw in his own style whether this was fantasy or not.

If you go back to Monday and read all the week’s strips, you’ll see Toni drifting into this fantasy. The drawing is by a guest artist.

Reading is fun, but reading Moby Dick? I think another poster, SueEllen (?) is right about not being able to imagine anyone having fun with that.

It’s possible she could go either way, i.e. had she married someone who didn’t want kids, she’d be OK with that. But she married Brad, who does want kids, and she’ll come around too. Based on personal experience and observation, it’s not that uncommon for one partner to be more ready than the other, or to have some ambivalence. I think G&K have done a good job showing that dynamic with Toni.

Probably not. There’s a certain amount of comic exaggeration going on with actual Shannon too, but like many of us, I’m guessing Toni would want to go for something in between

Irma, silly. It’s in the earlier post describing the prize.

Other posters have also said she seems older here. Probably true. But in fantasy world, a 6-year-old could do this. In the real world, I’m not sure a 9- or 10-year-old could really do it either. Definitely fantasy with lots of wiggle room for the imaginer (Toni.)

Thanks, I’ll check back next week.
