   Wayyyy back when (several hundred years), amphibians and reptiles were lumped in together as amphibians, but I cannot remember the date when reptiles were separated into their own taxonomy.

   Seeing the comments about how much gas costs in Europe, I wonder how much of the cost is the actual gasoline (or diesel) and how much of that is taxes.

   Yep – and don’t forget the tax incentives for these big corporations to move to these cities. The county abates the taxes so the taxpayers have to make up the difference that the taxes on the building/development would bring but is not paying. All the money for the increases in services that is needed have to come from somewhere else. TIF bonds are another mechanism where billionaire developers fleece the taxpayers to help pay for their developments.

   Funny how that works. People live in an area that has gone downhill. People want investment to make the place better. When the place is made better then the values go up because more people want to live there and then people complain that they cannot afford it anymore (thank you property taxes). Then the people complain and say that they were kicked out even though they got the investment they wanted to make the place better. On one hand I think that the people making the investments should have a benefit and on the other hand I don’t want to see people “kicked out”. Messy situation.
