   Speaking as a day (grandparent) home provider: parent should leave something a kid recognizes as important to parent. Just the first couple of times. an object, hat, coat, stuffy … is good. (kid just needs to recognize it as important to parent.) and please just leave, if you linger kid plays on your insecurity. (5 minutes, or less, kid will be too involved with toys or an activity to care if parent is there.)

   I had a chiropractor fix my little toe, numerous times. Kept dislocating toe on an ottoman. (base was designed to catch little toes. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. LOL) finally gave ottoman away. The hippo shaped bottom in now living in my daughters red-room for grandchildren to enjoy.
