   We’re kinda doing two things: in addition to alternative energy sources, the development of higher efficiency tech like LED lights, better insulation and electric cars allow us to do the same things for a lower energy cost. Not a lot but every bit helps.

   While oil continues to be created, we are using it at a much faster rate than it’s being created. Based on a survey by Rystad Energy in 2023, there were 1.6 Trillion barrels of recoverable oil. An estimate of undiscovered oil was made in 2012 by the USGS that guessed there were 565 Billion barrels of undiscovered oil; but that’s a pretty speculative number.

   In the immediate aftermath of the fires, an inch of rain is almost ideal. Limited debris flow and some moisture to help put out hotspots and start the grasses growing to hold together the ground in future rains.
