   Except that the NDP is hardly a “fringe” party. Many Canadians support their policies (most recently for dental coverage).

   Yeah, for software that old I guess it’s excusable. But, one would have hoped that the issue would have been recognized long before Y 2000 arrived to avoid all the panic/gloom/doom.

   I guess I can say that without blushing too much because software I wrote in the 1980s took that into account (which was pretty gratifying when Y 2000 loomed as I was able to report that we would require no time or resources to fix the problem).

   Yeah, that’s what I should have said. Year 2000 was a leap year (which fooled a lot of software that did not take the 400 divisibility rule into account).

   Good on ’em but, if those programmers had programmed properly to begin with they would have taken into account that Y2K was not a leap year.
