abortion? really? that’s your issue? i just threw away a packet of seeds. according to you, i just murdered hundreds of plants, to paraphrase tim walz, mind your own darn business.

you are correct when you say the bible does give an answer for the consequences for not obeying “god”. the overall point i was trying to make was questioning the validity of such claims. unless there is new and clear evidence about the existence of a “god”, then the bible was written by men and as such we’re back to square one as to whether i can know what “god” wants from me.

yes, but that’s assuming that you believe the bible to be true. there are plenty of other religious texts out there. why should anybody believe that one over another?

everything about the abrahamic religions (judaism, christianity, islam ) seems like nonsense to me. i have a really hard time praising a “god” who basically tortured Job just to prove a point to the devil.

exactly, not to mention that according to the bible, we all come from adam and eve so we are all products of incestuous reproduction.

if a tree falls in the woods and no one is around, does it make a sound? that is rhetorical nonsense and you didn’t answer my question. am i wrong because i didn’t come to the same conclusion as you may have?

no, “god” is not obligated to provide me with everything i need to know. however, i would think that what happens to me after i die would be kind of important to him. you are also assuming a lot when you say it’s my job to make a personal search to determine if he exists. i have made a personal search. i grew up in a religious background like a lot of people and i have determined for myself that “god” does not exist. are you suggesting that because i don’t come to the same conclusion as you that i am somehow wrong?

yes, it’s “gods” fault. first of all, the comparison to teachers and cops is a false analogy. i have seen teachers and cops with my own eyes. i know the consequences for breaking the law or not studying hard enough. i can’t possibly know what the consequences are for not obeying “god”.

    which is?

why should i research and meditate on it? if “god” wanted to, he could just make me understand. there is a line from the hound in game of thrones that says " if the lord of light is so powerful then why doesn’t he just tell you what he wants? "i’m supposedly going to be eternally punished because “god” couldn’t be bothered to be more direct and specific?which book do i follow? the old testament? the new testament? the quran? the egyptian book of the dead? who knows!!
