So, why isn’t Biden using his presidential immunity to address this grave danger to our country? If it wasn’t obvious during 45’s administration, it sure was more than obvious since the insurrection what was going to happen. I blame the “elite” for allowing this to happen by adopting neoliberal economic policies decades ago and allowing propaganda media to flourish. I think we are beyond the tipping point. Good luck turning any of this around; in fact, Trump has been running a parallel shadow government since he lost in 2020 and NOTHING has been done about the damage he and his minions have created. Forget about trying to address this via rule of law as Trump owns it now. It would take a hot civil war to turn this around and only if the more progressive side was lucky to win it. Just my opinion.

Depends on the mother. I would say questionable in the case shown here.

There will be many families here in this very situation. So much for family values.

What happened? I blame forty years of neoliberal economic policies enthusiastically adopted by both parties gutting the jobs that paid well along with vast investment by libertarian billionaires in unfettered propaganda media at the local levels to influence elections that feed into the national level.

I highly recommend Atul Gawande’s book Being Mortal.

I think that is the strategy. Get Trump elected based upon his “popularity” and extensive rigging, then have him “retire” and replaced by Vance, who will pardon Trump.

I think that our only hope is that Biden has a plan to exercise his presidential immunity for the good of the country; otherwise, we are totally screwed. It would be virtually impossible to undo what the Trumpists plan to do if they win the election, especially since they encourage violent means to get what they want. Please note that i don’t say gain power in that it is obvious that they have been leading a shadow government in parallel with the elected one the past four years. And, they haven’t even bothered to hide the fact. Why have they been allowed to get away with this?

There was a really great article in the New York Times magazine today about Robert Paxton re: trumpism and fascism. I highly recommend it.
