Oh, and I forgot to add that you can throw morality and the rule of law out as, for them, any and all means, no matter how cruel, justify their ends. Evil incarnate.

Not to mention the saturation of the media with right-wing propaganda so that voters really did not know what they were voting for. The right took advantage of the First Amendment to spread lies and discord and now that they are in power, deny those rights to others. Ditto for suffrage. Read The Anatomy of Fascism. This regime embodies all the characteristics of fascism. Oh, and they don’t believe in individual rights or democracy so you are wasting your breath arguing with them. For them, the white Christian male should rule all and the rest of us inferiors are here to support them, willingly or not. If you disagree, they will sic their well-armed thugs on you.

That and/or they and their loved ones are being threatened by the thugs and/or the possibility of going to a concentration camp located in Cuba, El Salvador, or who knows where else a secret agreement has been made. Can’t think what else could explain the silence of all the living presidents and former Congresspeople.

I know! I never knew about it until we took a trip on the eastern side of the Sierra Mountains and visited Manzanar. It made me very angry that this had been hidden. Well, ditto for our extermination of the native Americans. Instead of using these events as something to be ashamed of and put in place laws to keep them from happening again, they are hidden.

As a veteran, I took my oath to defend the constitution very seriously and hope that the current servicepeople do as well and refuse to execute an unlawful order. To be honest, I think that is our last hope. I think that the current regime is trying to instigate violence so that they can declare an emergency and engage the military to fulfill their goals and finalize the authoritarian takeover of our country. Extraordinary damage has already been done as people fear their co-workers and neighbors as informers; this is beginning to feel like Soviet Russia where trust in one another has been destroyed. Oh, and I hope I am wrong about political opponents being shipped to gulags being set up in foreign nations such as El Salvador and Cuba.
