Not only effort but discernment. When faced with an avalanche of information, true and false, how do you know which is which?
Most people will gravitate to a source they know and believe they can trust. They will avoid and ignore ones that tell them things they don’t want to hear. Once someone has found not “the truth” but “their truth” they tend to stick.
Being willing to look into multiple sources including ones that you disagree with and then comparing them is really the only way to get the real story. As you say, most aren’t willing to try that hard. Especially those who believe in a single source when every other one is disproving and debunking the things they truly want to believe.
You just had to go there.
