Cats are the only non-herd, non-flock, and non-pack animal ever domesticated. And there’s some question about how domesticated they are. Twain is also quoted as saying that all people are descended from apes, except red-heads, and they are descended from cats. (His hair was red before it was white.)
I worked as a truck driver for Toys R Us for 10 years. Most of the year, it was a decent little job. But starting September first, we were busy hauling Halloween stuff to the stores. That would be done by October first, when we started running Christmas stuff to the stores. From then until January first, we were busy every day, using all the time we legally had available. It is truly a monument to consumerism.
There are those who advocate giving a $5 donation to a candidate you do NOT support, figuring that they will receive a number of requests for additional funds. Back in the day when those requests came by mail, they figured each one cost about $5, so the candidate would actually be losing money. Email has kind of eliminated that theory, I think.
I was going to mention Luna. But leave it to sc-fi writers to name such things. Like the fact that our sun doesn’t really have a name, except in sci-fi, where it’s pretty universally known as “Sol.”
In case you didn’t look it up, Newton Minnow was the head of the FCC. He is famous for referring to American television as “a vast wasteland” in 1961. And the SS Minnow, on Gilligan’s Island, was named after him.
