The only soured experience I had with Apple is with a MacBook Pro mid-2010 15 inch. There’s a known issue regarding both of the video graphics cards on the logic board; one is Intel HD Graphics and the other is nVidia Mobile 330 graphics.
OS X employs a feature called “automatic dynamic switching”. Most of the time, the MacBook uses the Intel graphics to display video. But if you play a video game, watch YouTube, work in a video editor or use PhotoShop, auto dynamic switching kicks in and uses the nVidia graphics instead. It then switches back when you do a less involved task.
But there’s a problem with that feature: the switching causes the whole laptop to crash. Your screen goes dark, you wait a while, then it reboots and generates a crash report to send to Apple.
Now, there was a Repair Extension Program to fix this and was very quietly announced to the public. By the time we found out about it, it was already too late. The program and also the AppleCare had expired by then.
