    From yesterday’s comic, I learned of the existence of plastic surgeons in 1911. Today, and by coincidence, since I had a crown placed today, I learned that dental crowns go back to at least 1911 too!

    This puts the lie to the internet “fact” that has circulated over the years that Coca-Cola’s advertisements were the origin of the modern-day conception of Santa Claus. Here, about 25 years before the Coke ads appeared with Santa, he is depicted in the pretty much the same manner as today.
