We didn’t celebrate Halloween either. My brother and I patrolled the neighborhood to watch out for vandalism. Our neighbors felt so bad about it that they delivered all their left-over candy to our house. We made out pretty well.
I knew a guy who always bought Necco Wafers. When I asked him why he bought such a nasty candy, he said that he ate them because no one ever asked him to share them with him. He was right about that.
I was diagnosed as diabetic about 3 years ago. Was hospitalized with an A1C of 13+ (also had pneumonia and sepsis). I stuck to the prescribed diet and took my meds. The end result was an A1C of 5.4 and I lost about 120 lbs. I too am afraid of amputations because I know 2 people who did not deal with their diabetes. 1 died and the other lost a leg before dying. Also have MS, heart arrhythmia and sleep apnea but am currently doing well. None of these illnesses keep me from doing what I want to do. Take good care of yourself, follow Doctor’s orders and you too can maximize your lifestyle. Nobody gets out alive but you can delay your departure.
My brother and I were in Junior Book Club back in Grade School (primarily because we got out of class early to attend the meetings). We didn’t want to appear uncool so we called it “Junior Gauchos”.
There have been a number of things that Joanie has objected to all along, Zeke not being the least of them. The tattoo rings are the straw that broke the camel’s back.
I’m looking at 4 Palm Pilots sitting on the shelf next to my computer desk, complete with plug-in keyboards, modem and GPS. Used it until the day I retired (2020). If one died, loaded up another and moved on. Bought them on Ebay for somewhat less than 10 cents on the dollar (original price). Worked great for what I needed.
