I’ve read all the Travis McGee books and loved them dearly.

I can’t say how many might not be exactly plausible, but the writings of John D MacDonald capturing Travis and Meyers’ lives in the keys, from a time long forgotten, is pure poetry.

As everyone said… it’s a pleasure to hear from you and see how things are going for you. Yeah, that drive, and sleeping in your car (omg 5 degrees?? ) and now being sick again. :( Seems like everyone is getting sick repeatedly this winter. I’ve had three different colds and a bad food poisoning within 6 weeks. I am usually sick less than once a year, so something is definitely different in Denmark this year.

Anyway, back to you…. You’ve got yourself a new job that pays the bills, you’ve figured out how to get across the country to get there, and secured living accommodations. And the job could lead to a number of new possibilities. Bravo. All super great news! Now you just have to get your energy and strength back up, so this feels less overwhelming. And you’ll be there for the springtime, which surely will be welcome after the winter you are now enjoying.

Keep us posted. One step at a time. And thanks for the morning joke, re: last poster. I really missed your humour. <3 <3

Thank you! Does one take a lactaid pill right before eating anything dairy (i.e. multiple times a day), or does one pill last for approximately one day’s worth of dairy?

I used to love ice cream as a kid, but boy did I feel kind of yucky afterwards, although that never stopped me from getting more the next evening. Maybe it was the sugar, (because as a kid the goal was to have a bowl bigger than your brothers), or the sugar… or the fact it was very inexpensive ice cream. I look back on that and think yuk!

As an adult I did discover high end ice cream, which not only tasted better, but you could eat less, and saveur it, so that worked better on all counts. I used to love the B&R peanut butter and chocolate ice cream in college, especially around exams. Then I moved (up?) into chocolate chunks in dark chocolate, or the Starbucks coffee ice cream with chunks of coffee beans, and finally the as-they-do-in-france Pistachio ice cream mixed with a dark chocolate ice cream. They offset each other so its not too dry or too sweet.

But, fast forward to the last couple of months… I’m pretty sure now that I’m lactose intolerant. So ice cream will be a once-in-awhile splurge in the summer months, not a regular thing. Whatever I have it though, I’m sure there will be chocolaté involved.
