   I feel you. Honestly, I’m really holding out for some grand twist that involves Gina helping Nate in some capacity. Maybe her storyline will pick up next week but we’ll have to see! Peirce doesn’t usually take arc breaks for the big storylines (the OG Daphne arc took about a month right? No breaks?), though, so I’m really hoping it didn’t just end there. If it did, well so be it. What an odd note to leave it on imo!

   He used to be so loyal, well-rounded, quirky, and likable. A great addition to the cast and the yin to Nate’s yang. It makes me think of one of the few strips where Nate’s mother and her absence is addressed WAY back in the day. Teddy ask Nate what it’s like not having a mother and Francis appears to smother Nate with sunscreen, leading to Nate saying something along the lines of “I have an idea”. That’s one of my favorites because Francis has accidentally become the ‘mom’ of the group, putting him in a unqiue and wonderful place in Nate’s life.

   But as you said, in recent decades, he seems to have been molded into just another bully of Nate. Except worst since it’s under the disguise of “friend” and taking everything Randy/Gina/Marcus and so on to another level of hurt and betrayal.

   I get it. Sheila does throw a monkey wrench into the mix. Hey, could lead to her being featured for the first that in a long time and add an interesting twist. I hope we see soon!

   Honestly, Francis too. He used to be one of my favorites but his personality has gone far too mean-spirited and sour as of late. He was perfect in Flips Out; I’d love to see that Francis and the older versions of him in the strip return. Who knows, maybe Gina will bring that side out of him once again!

   Idk, I’m personally not ruling out a romance between these two just yet.

   Remember how subtle Peirce was with Nate and Daphne at the beginning and it took a minute for them to click? There was no real spark for a while for them until there was…and I have strong suspicion that’s what’ll happen here. Ofc if this arc DOES lead to these two being together, Peirce must have forgotten about Sheila, which I can honestly see happening; she hasn’t been in the strip for years!

   I just can’t shake the feeling Peirce wouldn’t do an arc like this without it leading somewhere big, particularly for Gina. And since the main theme of her storyline IS her desiring a love interest…

   I could be totally wrong, though! I’m totally down for Gina and Nate making peace out of this instead, too. That would be a landmark event for the series in of itself!

   Also, excellent observations about those major arcs all happening in March! Must be a favorite month of Peirce! (Nate’s birthmonth perhaps?)

   I’m really, REALLY enjoying this side of Francis. Yesterday and today’s strips revealed a raw humility in him that’s been MIA for a while.

   If he and Gina end up together, I can see him helping her be more balanced. It’ll make for some hilarious and interesting storylines, ESPECIALLY when Nate finds out.

    Gina and Francis? Did NOT see that coming!

    Weirdly, though, I can see it! Even if they just become friends, what a turn of events that’ll be! How would Nate react? Would it effect his friendship Francis or cause him to see Gina different? So intrigued!

    Possible character development for Francis, Gina, and even Nate here, too! Any way you slice it, I’m here for it!
