Good for you!And moreso for your children.

It is so hard to break the pattern of our parents but the fact that you were conscious of it is admirable!

    Well done, you! :)

Really? That is your first thought, Val?

    Money?

How about “Oh my gosh, are you okay sweetie? Let’s get you some ice while I call the dentist”. Then I try to arrange an LC on my overdraft. At least that is what I did.

My kid knocked both his front teeth out playing hockey when he was nine and as a broke single mother working two jobs, I had squat.

Yet, somehow, I managed to find some credit. As a mother, your child comes first, and even brok a** me found a way to pay for him. I got him to the emergency dentist first and worried about paying afterwards. They were understanding and gave me a pay schedule and I paid it off from my second job a little every week until I was debt free. It took a year.

More importantly, I never once complained about the cost in front of him, making him feel bad. I just said it will be ok – alot – even if I knew it wasn’t

Sheeesh! What is with her anyway?

I remember that episode. I liked Andy and Jill had it coming.

They end up together at the end though, don’t they?

My parents did that with their deck at the cottage bcause they didnt want to cut down the tree. A few years later the tree died and it had to come down. Then we had a patch in the deck for ten years.

I told her it was a dumb idea at the start, but I was only 11, so what did I know?

It is sad when you realize that you are smarter than your parents…..
