    Earl must’ve been having a bad day, but that’s a sad commentary for a grandson to hear from a grandfather. In the Bible, God associates old age with wisdom and honor. For example, Proverbs 16:31 describes gray hair as a crown of glory gained through righteousness. In the afterlife, believers are promised eternal life and joy, as seen in passages like John 3:16. These themes emphasize respect and fulfillment both in this life and beyond. We hope these words of Earl‘s to Nelson don’t turn out to be his last.

    I see that the original publication date of this panel was 1985. I hadn’t realized that Pot-Shots has been so influential.
