It’s a question of mutual respect. Treat other religions or non-believers as you wish to be treated. (I’m paraphrasing some book or other there). I enjoy pork, beef, bacon etc. But I haven’t set up a stand outside a synagogue or mosque. Some people object to the Koran being burnt, or the Prophet being drawn. Others object to Bibles being burnt, and Yazadi christian being murdered. Those atrocious actions are accepted, because those non-believers are deemed to be less that human, less worthy of life than the Chosen of another religion. Can’t we all just get along.
Does the law say whose religious freedoms it is protecting, or who it is excluding. I genuinely don’t know. In any case it feels very dangerous to put on the books. If it’s vague it could be and eventually will be turned against others.Imagine the Klan had called themselves a religion and demanded their rights?
I can imagine what Friedrich Nietzsche would have said.
As time goes on, and the effects become more severe. Their position will change. They will become against ‘wasteful’ gestures, and pretend they never denied the science.
Does anyone recall Bhopal?
