People who like a great, fast-paced adventure story might want to pick up a copy of Moby Dick, by Herman Melville, and read it. It became extremely popular at the time of publication because it is a real page turner. A seriously fun read. It can be a bit intellectual; like when Melville compares the sizes of whales to the sizes of books. examples: folio, quarto, octavo ….. But even that sort display of downright cleverness is quite brief. First time I read it I was in school and only had time to read one chapter a night. Although I ‘cheated’ often enough and read more because it is hard to put down. If you like to read and like good stories…. give it a chance.

also: Bend at the knees when lifting heavy weights. Use the strength & balance of your rear-end and your thighs instead, to lift them. [Do not use the fulcrum of your lower back to hoist heavy things up into your arms and move them around] * Same strategy for shoveling snow. (For best results, make this a life-time plan : )

Read Moby Dick for the first time in high school. Easy to recommend it to almost anyone, especially eager-reader kids middle school through high school. It is a true adventure story a page turner. The visual imagery of book puts you right there with the action. Early on there was a comparison of sizes to whales to traditional library & publisher book sizes (folio, quarto and octavo) was unexpected and charming. At least, to a person that grew up in a used book store :p

Lassie who was always at the school gate waiting for the boy; until the impoverished mother sold her to a rich family way up North, in order to put food on the table. She tells her grieving son never to love anything like he loved Lassie because love can cause too much pain and life is painful enough without that. Lassie managing to figure out how to get across the Lake District with its wide and long lakes is a moving triumph.

Ahhhh. The rare and highly desirable ‘Snorgle-butt’. Well. THat explains the extra screening; they were being extra sure! (Kidding aside, good thing your neighbor walked in timely. You could have missed out on a good cat, for no good reason; and your marmalade cat could have missed out on the next 18 & 1/6 years of a wonderful life with you.)
