   Recreational shuttlecocks are plastic. It’s the competition-level shuttlecocks that use feathers. Because of the design (including the way they are weighted, and the feathers) they can be slammed at high speed — up to 200 mph — yet it’s hard to hit one past the end line.The difference between the recreational badminton sets (and the games played using that equipment) and high-end competition badminton is immense.

   Since 1960, Florida had at least one hurricane make landfall in: 1960, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1968, 1972, 1975, 1979, 1985, 1987, 1992, 1995, 1998, 1999, 2004, 2005, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2020, 2022, 2023 and now 2024. Not a 2—year stretch in there.

   Those are Burmese Pythons, not Anacondas. And they are in the very extreme south Florida, rarely found outside of the Everglades. Though it hasn’t been specifically stated, I get the impression that the coast that they are thinking of moving to is actually in Mississippi or Alabama.
