There’s a strip of Kim in high school where a classmate says that the only reason she’s good in math and science is because she’s Asian, and Kim replies, “but I’m Jewish” (i.e., adopted by and raised by the Rosenthals). Kim’s classmate says, “well that clinches it.” I’m sure I don’t have the dialog word-for-word accurate (I read that strip when it first appeared, a few decades ago), but I’m pretty sure I have the gist of it.

We’ve been there, too. Our hearts go out to you and your wife. I hope that in time, you’ll see fit to adopt another dog. He or she won’t take the place of Edee, but giving a home to a dog brings a little more love into the world.

You beat me to that one. We already know Sophie and the Dad are Star Trek fans, so it’s likely that Mr. Anderson would know about L-space.

Mr. Thompson: My grandfather and father both suffered from PD. Medical advances helped my father stay active, far more than his father, and I hope the subsequent medical advances afford you further relief.

For any readers who are interested, I contribute annually to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, and I highly recommend contributing to them or one of the other groups dedicated to research and treatment of PD.

This is beyond excellent. I’m tempted to send it to my right-wing friends, but I don’t think they’ll understand it applies to them.

That was a trip to Canada, not to the West Coast.
