My dad just mixed cayenne pepper with the bird seed. It doesn’t bother the birds, but the squirrels learn about it pretty quickly.

The whole point of 20+ years of the comic strip is right here.

Many years ago my family moved into a house with a big ash tree in the front yard, and I climbed it (I was 10). Now, 50 years later, I live out of state, my parents are gone, and we’re selling the old place. The ash tree is still there, looking good… I took a good look at it the last time I was there.

The house is in horrible shape and it has to go, but whoever buys the place is likely to bulldoze everything down to the bare dirt and start over. I’m hoping they try to work around the 80-100 year old tree, but I don’t expect they will.

I notice nothing broke. They’re already using plastic.

My dad lived to 92, was happy, well-off and well-liked. I wouldn’t mind ending up like him.

I work in an elementary school. They DO teach geography — despite the cuts in funding (The AZ legislature leads the “race to the bottom” in school funding), the emphasis on standardized tests which don’t test geography, etc. It’s not specifically graded (I think it’s part of Social Studies), but it’s covered.

Of course, the kids who don’t pay attention don’t learn it, but that’s true of any subject.

Few pedestrians at midnight. And a speed bump isn’t a real problem for someone going at a reasonable speed.
