   I have a large format (13×19) canon inkjet. I have never had the cartridges dry out and I don’t print often. It has 8 different cartridges at ~$18 each. My parents have been through at least 4 consumer printers while I am on the same one.

   I also have a dedicated Epson flatbed scanner that is over a decade old. I use a 3rd party software to run it.

   Sometimes it pays to go prosumer instead of consumer for electronics.

   They are still rare in the US but very common in Europe. It is why I always get two keys. That way one can stay in the slot and I don’t have to think about it
