It is a reference to the 1999 sci-fi adventure movie called The Matrix. The blue and red pills were presented to the protagonist Neo. If he took the red pill, his life would be forever changed. If he took the blue pill, he would be able to go back to his regular life before with everything back to normal.I highly recommend watching the movie at least. It was quite ground-breaking in many ways for the film industry all over the world. Pioneered a lot of stuff that are now commonplace.
