   The solution is “Family Restrooms”, where a single dad can have the facilities to change the baby’s diaper without kneeling on the floor, and a mother or father can take the children of any age into a room where they will be safe from deviants and predators. As for women in the men’s and men in the women’s, that’s fine as long as they are single-seaters with a lock on the door. We are not yet “European” enough in the USA to not “freak out” at the idea of public shared multi-stall restrooms

   You have to admire Earl’s imagination, Opal. Better hire somebody to trim that tree.

   We all must teach our children pets are not toys. There is nothing more wonderful than seeing the bond between a child and his or her pet if the relationship is one of love and respect. Animals should not be given as “gifts” for Christmas, Easter or any other occasion. Having a pet is not a frivolity but a responsibility to be taken seriously.

   Pets are companions; they are NOT toys. My husband and I are “the help” to four cats and two dogs, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. The love and affection they give us (yes, even the cats!) is priceless. We can’t imagine life without our four-footed family members.

   I have tried for years to get my now-21-year-old son to keep a written check register showing his debits and credits. He says it’s all listed on the computer – he doesn’t need to. I guess it will take a disagreement with the bank and him not having his own record of a transaction to wake him up. I just hope it isn’t a huge amount.

   I learned to fold a fitted sheet from the salesclerk in Bloomingdale’s Linens Department when I worked there in shipping in 1978. Mine never look as nice as Opal’s, but they look better than Earl’s. The salesclerk told me most people “roll them up and sit on them.” No doubt.
