I imagine when this strip was drawn the character was Chinese. North Korea didn’t exist until 1945, and this piece looks older than that. Plus no one ever made jokes about digging a hole deep enough to come out in Korea!

Locher Auditorium…excitement? Never thought I’d see those words together.

    I think I’m going to cry…

Finally our old pal Dick is back from the precipice!

AAUUGGHH!! Will this strip never cease to achieve new lows?? “Where’s the action?” Really? That’s the depth of Tracy’s interrogation skills? This is an abomination.

Wow, this city sure likes its signs to be clear. No mistaking the MORGUE or the POLICE station. I mean, other than the fact that they seem to change shape regularly.

Why, oh why is this entire strip drawn in extreme close-ups?? Any closer and we’ll be looking up their noses. Good god, this thing is an embarrassment.

Anyone recall in the 60’s when Dick Tracy had its own “strip within a strip” called Sawdust? It was supposed to be a comic strip drawn by five artists who each contributed their own specks.

I assume Gould meant it as a satire on the then-current state of the comics. If only he had known that 40 years later his own beloved creation would be reduced to the same sort of pathetic joke.

Sigh…PLEASE can’t the syndicate employ a decent writer and artist?? The guys from ANNIE are free…

Aauugghh!! They all look the same!

Sigh…this art has now reached the point where I seriously have trouble telling one character from another. Plus the fact that we only ever see talking heads doesn’t help.

I mean c’mon, even Dilbert manages full bodies, and that’s about as basic as comic art gets!

I have never enjoyed Garfield - until now. I always felt Garfield’s comments were extraneous. It’s much funnier, in a surreal sense, without his stating the obvious.

Wow - so they carry a priceless Stradivarius in what looks like a guitar case…
