Moving water inland should be the priority, given that without moving water inland we don’t have glaciation and lose a lot of arable habitat to desertification. Unfortunately, due to catastrophic cooling of the seas in the ice age, the Earth has steadily lost inland fresh water resources ever since. This will inevitably result in atmospheric warming, increased atmospheric CO2 levels, reduced atmospheric O2 levels, sea rise, coastal flooding, tropical storms and loss of inland habitat. Some people believe we can speed the warming by increasing the slight trace of CO2 in the atmosphere. Let us hope that they are right. Nothing else can reduce the loss of inland habitat in this post-glacial warming cycle, or the harm to sea coasts from near-shore storms cause by premature cooling and condensation of what little water vapor is produced. There is no magic that will replace the warming of the seas to enable redistribution of water resources from salty seas to inland reserves.

They will view it the way we view the dark ages, when society took great leaps backward and only other societies kept math, science and art going until people began to value those things again.
