In our neighborhood, people set off fireworks at midnight for New Year’s. My hubby and I are usually in bed by 9:00 p.m. If the fireworks wake us up, we mutter “Happy New Year,” exchange a sleepy kiss, calm down the cat who’s at the window in full ’WHAT THE @%&#! IS THAT!!" mode, and go back to sleep when the noise outside subsides.

I never saw the point in staying up until midnight.

I have a very quiet New Years. Just quietly sing Auld Lang Synge. And That’s it.
