I agree with “pksampso”. I never had a doctor bust my chops about my weight til I moved to my present location and started going to a doctor who’s as thin as a rail….
The art style has grown on me over the years. It’s by no means an “art-driven” strip, but the drawing suits the jokes.
And of course, good writing can save bad art (“Dilbert”, early “Doonesbury”, “The Far Side”) but good art doesn’t save bad writing (late “Li’l Abner”). So even accepting your scores of 2.0 for the art and 4.0 for the joke, I’d make that an overall 3.5…

Art of this strip has never appealed to me but the writing has always been strong, if not a bit heavy on white male bashing and lampooning fat men.
Today’s gets an 2.0 out of 5.0 for art and a 4.0 out 5.0 for writing for an overall Comics Expert grade of 3.0 out of 5.0

Some of the comments are really interesting. Problem is I can’t say which ones!
